As we begin the 2019-2020 School year, Northwest HS welcomes several new members to the instructional staff. The following new teachers are already on board and working to create the finest educational opportunities possible. The new administration and teachers at the JR/SR HS are:

Mr. Paul Hinman

Jr/Sr High Principal

Ms. Shelby Bagnel

Agriculture

Mrs. Valerie Hatfield

LA/English

Mrs. Anita Slaughter

Science

Mrs. Crystal Menget

Music/Band

Mrs. Erica Smith

Physical Education

One other staff change should be noted. Mr. Joe Brown has assumed the responsibilities as the Director of Athletics/Activities.

We welcome all of these new staff members and look forward to the professionalism, energy and enthusiasm they bring to our school and the families we serve.

Building/Grounds Upgrades

As we know, our patrons passed the recent referendum and through this vision and generosity we have been able to make several facility improvements. As a result, this has been a busy Summer for building and grounds improvement. Already, the changes are obvious. The improvements include:

*New Blacktop and striping on our parking lots
*New exterior doors
*New Security System

Future plans are in the works including new interior doors and roof repair. These improvements provide safety for our students and staff, and they will improve the efficacy of our heating and air conditioning systems. More on future improvements will be forthcoming.

Athletics

In our efforts to offer more and improved extra curricular opportunities, we have entered into Cooperative team programs with other local schools. Our football team will Co-op with Sacred Heart I-IS. This partnership provides a broader talent pool and will hopefully pay dividends in the quality of play our young men get to enjoy. Mr. Wolfe, the Northwest Head Coach, serves as the Head of the football operations, and the Co-op Team will wear Northwest uniforms and be recognized as the Northwest Mustangs.

We have also entered a Co-op with La Monte HS. In this program, our men and women students can take advantage of playing interscholastic soccer. The operations for this are managed by the head coach at La Monte HS, and will be recognized as La Monte Vikings. We are excited to provide this experience to both our young men and our young women, and already have at least two students who are taking advantage of this opportunity.

As we move forward, we are confident that even more Co-Op programs will be possible. These supplemental programs will contribute to the growth and development of our school and the students who benefit from these extended opportunities.
